In 2009, Carman Ranch expanded slightly, setting our sights on another market: chefs and retailers looking for a full-flavored and consistent source of local 100% grassfed beef. This market has become a main outlet for our beef. We currently service wholesale accounts throughout the Portland area, and will soon be available in other parts of Oregon. McClaran Ranch, A Century of Common Regard

Strong partnerships are essential to our work and we are excited to be working with the McClaran Ranch to offer even more Wallowa County 100% grassfed beef to our customers.

The Carman and McClaran families have been ranching in Wallowa for nearly a century and share a long history of mutual respect for one another’s operations and care for the land. Their belief in providing a superior product led the McClaran family to Country Natural Beef, the first copperative of family-owned ranches and a major outlet for the McClaran cow herd.

When Cory Carman and Jill McClaran returned to their family’s ranches, they picked up where their fathers had left off. The discussion that began more than a decade ago continued, about how to balance the life they love with meeting growing consumer demand.

Cory, faced with the challenge of growing the Carman cowherd, worked with Jill to include some of the McClaran animals in her grassfed program. The results of this collaboration have been exceptional and the McClaran family will continue to supply cattle to our wholesale operation.
